Canon profits from digicams
Canon has reported a 14 percent increase in profits in 2002, and predicts an additional rise in 2003 – which will be the 4th record-breaking year consecutively. Internet profit rose to $1.6 billion in the past year.
Canon is becoming probably the most lucrative non-automobile company’s in Japan. Success is driven partly through the growing interest in digital camera models.
Apple helps Canon’s camera sales in recent promotional initiatives, which feature an imac desktop, a Canon camera and also the slogan: “They simply click”. Canon’s expects camera sales to climb an additional 72 percent this season – and it is after 25 percent from the global market within the category in 2003.
The organization expects colour laser printer sales to increase over five percent. Along with HP, Canon makes up about 60 percent from the world’s laser printer market. However, Dell and Samsung are intending to go into the market within the coming several weeks.
